Western Digital Media Tour & Product Update (My Passport AV - TV & WD Live TV)

After our time with Myrtle Sarrosa for the Hero Face - Off Media launch last August 20, we got lucky to tag along with our friends at Reimaru Files and Back2Gaming at the Western Digital Concept Store at SM North Edsa for the unveiling of WD's newest product, the My Passport AV-TV as well as an overview of their complementary product, the WD Live TV.

The My Passport AV-TV is the newest addition in the My Passport line of devices. Specially designed for use on recording video on smart television sets, the AV-TV contains an industry-grade hard disk drive optimized for audio/video recording that can be used for 24/7 operation in high temperature environments.

Record-able TV's can store two different channels at the same time thanks to the AV-TV's super-fast USB 3.0 interface. Users can easily mount the drive on the back of the TV with the included bracket to maximize airflow or let it stand upright for easy access.

WD's Live TV is an all-in-one media player capable of streaming your videos from a variety of devices. It can support live streaming from social media sites such as Facebook, Youtube, Hulu, and Spotify. You can also stream your media from your network wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable to get the fastest speeds possible.

File formats? No problem. The WD Live TV supports almost all audio and video formats available. From your standard MP4/MOV files to Blu-Ray quality MKV's, and even MPEG 2 and MPEG audio and video files, Live TV can playback your file without problems. It can also playback your files from an external device such as an external hard drive, flash drive or even a memory card.

The My Passport AV-TV comes at 500GB and 1TB capacities and priced locally (in Philippine Peso) at around 4,090 & ₱4,990 respectively while the WD Live TV is currently priced at 4,890. WD gave a sample of their AV-TV to review. We will have a full article and video review of the AV-TV real soon.
